New HSA Proposals From the Bush Administration: How Would They Impact Your Organization?

In his Jan. 31 State of the Union address, President Bush proposed a plan that would build on the success of health savings accounts by boosting the maximum contribution amount, offering tax credits to individuals who purchase high-deductible health plans on their own, and improving the portability of HSA-based health coverage. What are the details of these wide-ranging initiatives likely to be, and how should you position your organization in the event that they are enacted and implemented soon?

Prior to joining the National Economic Council, Mr. Ramthun was senior advisor to the Secretary of the Treasury, where he co-authored all HSA guidance released during the first eight months of 2004.

Mr. Ramthun details the White House's plan to expand HSAs in a 45-minute presentation followed by 45 minutes of answers to audience questions about HSAs, HDHPs and the president's blueprint to improve the health care system.

  • Tax advantages for individuals
  • Larger HSA contributions
  • Tax-free premiums for HDHPs

    …and more
