"As
long as [Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan] remains
the insurer of last resort and gets all the benefits
that accrue with that, this is unacceptable. We all
share the objective of leveling the playing field.
Their solution is one that benefits Blue Cross Blue
Shield at the expense of other carriers in the industry.
This is self-serving legislation."
-- Richard Murdock, executive director of the Michigan
Assn. of Health Plans, commenting on four bills passed
by the state House to The AIS Report on Blue Cross
and Blue Shield plans.
